Police Chief Aaron Goldstein of the Fond du Lac Police Department is saddened to announce the Line of Duty death of Police Officer Joseph “Joe” Kurer
Officer Kurer passed away on the evening of September 22, 2021 following complications related to Covid 19 he contracted while on duty. Officer Kurer was 26 years of age and was a 3 year veteran of the Fond du Lac Police Department.
Visitation and Service
Visitation will be held from 1500 hours to 2000 hours on Tuesday September 28th, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 271 Forth St Way, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54937.
On Wednesday, September 29th visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Law Enforcement and Military Honors will follow outside of Holy Family Catholic Church.
The procession will commence after police honors from Holy Family Catholic Church to Zacherl Funeral Home at 875 E. Division St Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54937.
Burial
Burial services will be private and not open to the public

The Fond du Lac Police Department is working with the Wisconsin Honor Guard Association to coordinate the details for Officer Kurer’s Line of Duty Death, funeral honors. We will update this information as details and contact information become available. Agencies and Honor Guards are also encouraged to monitor the Fond du Lac Police Department and Wisconsin Honor Guard Association websites and social media accounts, as we will post updates as they come in.
