Funeral Arrangements

A Funeral Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Sparta High School, 506 N. Black River St., Sparta, WI 54656. Military and law enforcement honors will follow in the school parking lot.

Visitation for Tony will be held at the high school on Monday, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the Borostowski family at www.schanhoferfh.com

The funeral planning is progressing well and the Borostowski family, as well as the WSP, are grateful for the assistance they’ve received during this difficult time.

Obituary Information 
Trooper Anthony “Tony” J. Borostowski, 34, of Tomah, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 as a result of an automobile accident while on duty. He was born January 5, 1983 to Stanley and Cynthia (Inhoff) Borostowski in Milwaukee, WI.
 
Tony grew up in the Oak Creek area and graduated from Oak Creek High School with the class of 2001. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, May 21, 2004. He completed the Health Care Specialist Course in May of 2005. He deployed as a 68W to Kuwait with the 2-128th INF 2005-2006, Iraq with the 108th FSC 2009-2010 and Afghanistan with 1-121st FA 2012-2013. He recently completed the Drill Sergeant’s Course and was assigned as a Drill SGT in the RRB. His decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Army Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Nato Medal, Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Wisconsin National Guard Service Ribbon.
 
In 2010 Tony attended the ITT Tech Criminal Justice Program. After his final deployment in 2013, he was accepted into the Wisconsin State Patrol Program, in which he graduated from on December 19, 2014. Tony received Wisconsin State Patrol’s Life Saving Award in 2015, while still in field training.
 
Tony is survived by his mother and father, Stanley and Cynthia Borostowski, Sparta; his very special friend, Anna Duncan, Racine; aunt, Mary Inhoff-Philbert, Oak Creek; and uncle, Tom Inhoff, Greenfield. He is further survived by many cousins, great aunts and uncles.
 
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Stanley and Esther Borostowski; and maternal grandparents, Anthony and Erna Inhoff.

The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
